White Cloud Schools Picnic Parade at Malvern Fair Grounds
White Cloud township hosted the first MHla County picnic with Foxworthy Barrett White Cloud and Spring Valley schools. A morning parade featured boy and girl costumes and American flags, followed by a noon picnic for over a hundred people, then a track meet and games. Teachers listed were Mrs. Margaret Buttman Miss Laura Hopp Miss Edith Grosse and Thelma Bayes with County Superintendent Mary Rathke as guest.

Death of Malvern resident James Horn at 88
An aged Malvern resident James Horn died at his home April 28. Funeral services were held Friday at two o'clock at the home led by Rev. C. H. Hiller of the Methodist church. Burial followed in Hastings cemetery. Born in Scotland on July 8, 1837, he was 88 years old and had lived in the area for about twenty years. He came to America at twenty one and moved to the locality about forty years ago.
