The Chantry Beattie wedding took place Wednesday evening April 26 at the Chantry home. Lillian Chantry married H T Beattie in a simple Episco pal ring service led by Rev. Alexander Corkay. The bridal party walked a lilyed and white ribbon path, with Esther Swisher and Ethel Lovitt providing music and singing. The couple will reside at their new home after June 1.

Last week while Wm. Thomas toured Red Oak he witnessed Kretchmer Manufacturing loading a car with knocked down beehives and bee supplies bound for Chicago. The recipient is Sears, Roebuck & Co., raising concerns that beekeepers must pay freight both ways to vet supplies.
Endorsed liquor law viewed as just by Archbishop Keane
A January 20 1903 letter from Archbishop John J Keane of Dubuque to the State Marshal Clubs secretary praises a proposed State Constabulary to enforce liquor laws. He argues enforcement should be by state officials and endorses the plan unless a better system is proposed. The letter is signed by Keane and the State Marshal Clubs Executive Committee.
