Mrs C L Stranathan of Silver City for thirty years died Thursday morning April 26 in Jennie Edmundson hospital Council Bluffs after an acute pneumonia illness. She leaves a husband Leroy C Stranathan and children Bonnie Nadine Myrtie Edna Anderson born May 9 1884 in Bureau County Illinois moved to Iowa at age twelve. She married in 1910 and lived on the home farm until a year ago. She was a loyal member of Silver City Baptist church Rebekah lodge Eastern Star Mills County Farm Bureau Silver City Woman's club and active in extension work. Funeral Saturday at Silver City Baptist church with Rev H O King officiating. Interment in the Lyner City cemetery.

Miss Mathews Regains Voice After Auto Crash
Miss Helen Mathews former teacher and daughter of Rev A J Mathews who served Fifth Avenue Methodist church recovered her voice after an automobile accident in California in June 1926. She is now in Somerton Arizona with her father family. Her lungs weakened from the crash improved after moving to the dry climate aiding recovery.

County Track Meet Sets Malvern Event Next Saturday
All Mills county roads lead to Malvern for the county track and field meet at the fair grounds starting 2:00 p.m. on March 4. Glenwood Wins Dual Track Meet
Glenwood defeated Malvern in a two day dual track meet 74 to 39. May 5 reports show Glenwood performers led by Plummer with four firsts and a place on the winning relay team. Hummel of Malvern tallied 20 of Malvern’s 39 points with strong showings in multiple events. The meet featured top marks in hurdles, sprints, distance events, field events, and a close 110 yard dash finish. In the same note, Mrs. Nannie Norton and Edwin R. Kranebell of Albert Lea, Minn, quietly wed in Council Bluffs. They plan to live in Albert Lea after June 1.

Uncle Jack Coburn Dies at 81 in Silver City
John S. Coburn, born August 8 1848 in Carroll County Kentucky, died April 26 1928 in Silver City Iowa aged 81 years eight months and eighteen days. A Civil War veteran he served with the 13th Kentucky under Generals Burnside and Sherman. He moved west after the war, married Stella Derrick July 4 1876, and lived in Silver City for over fifty years. Surviving are three children Ellery G Woburn Council Bluffs Meg C W Sawyer and Willa O Coburn and four grandchildren. Funeral with military honors by May Post Silver City included color bearers and a brief sermon by Rev T J Rees. Interment in Silver City cemetery.
