A poetic piece invites children to dream of Dreama a peaceful land over the River of Drooping Eyes where no one scolds toys are safe and endless play persists with candy cakes and grassy play areas while birds and bees abound and happiness reigns.
A Syracuse University student politely sought Queen Victoria's autograph by mail, inclosing twenty five cents. After three months he mailed again with a postscript urging action. He finally received the autograph in about a month. The writer notes Victoria's evolving signature and titles.
During a severe 1862 64 winter at Dalton Georgia Major General W B Bate s division including Breckenridge s Kentucky brigade Tennesseeans and a Florida brigade led by General Stovall engaged in a snowball skirmish after morning drills When surprise attacks unfolded the Tennesseeans and Kentuckians briefly battled flanked by a Florida party before Stovall redirected his brigade and the Floridians countered with snowball retaliation and bold moves through the frozen encampments.
