Geraldine Foster LPN administrator of Nishna Cottage Nursing Home attended a Therapeutic Community institute in Iowa City last week. Administrators and owners from Iowa nursing homes, Mental Health representatives, and social services professionals attended. Lectures focused on elderly treatment and facility personnel, with James Mardini of the Mental Health Institute Clarinda named western division coordinator. Three New Members Join Ladies Aid at Hoover Home Visit
A Scouts of names and places describe a family gathering at the Hoover home in Red Oak. Mr and Mrs John Beals and Jack and Hallas Beals of Edgar Mont joined Marion Beals for a Friday visit ahead of a Saturday family get together. Montana visitors stayed into Sunday and left Tuesday morning after visiting Marion Beals in Veterans hospital. Also present were the Darrell Frederickson family Fern Beals Robert Beals Donald Beals Bonnie Beals Thurman Robert Blackman and sons Robert Woodward Max Beals and Clifford Cheney families from Crete Sidney Omaha and Council Bluffs. On Sunday Fredrickson entertained the Montana visitors and Vaughn Hoover and Jerry Beals of Crete. The event marked the three new Ladies Aid members joining and the group’s March 12 meeting at 1 80 oclock with a salad bar and recipe sharing. Grace Seipold led devotions and 18 members attended. Judy Schroeder joined from Villisca along with LWML South West zone Christian Growth chairperson and the LWML Spring Rally announced for Our Saviors Lutheran in Red Oak. Four March birthdays were celebrated.

Regional Art Show Awards Go To Alice Gipe
Alice Gipe of southeast Malvern led the field as the 2nd Annual Regional Adult Amateur Art Show winners were announced at the Area XIII Media Center near Treynor on Saturday March 15. Her oil painting Tranquility and the ink drawing From a Studio Window were among ten blue ribbon winners chosen by judge Chauncey Nelson. Other blue ribbons went to Viva Miller of Silver City Bessie Bates of Red Oak Ruth Armstrong of Griswold Jennie Hopp of Harlan Gladys Phillips and Ben Russell of Council Bluffs and Gayland McCurdy of Clarinda. The show of about 70 paintings will be on view at the Media Center until month end during office hours. The ten winners are eligible to enter the 2nd annual State Amateur Adult Art Show in Sioux City in April.
