Pioneer Woman Dies in Mills County After Fall
Mrs. William Byers, aged woman long linked with Malvern, passed away following a fall and subsequent complications. Funeral services were held at the W. G. Bingaman home with Rev. Walter C. Plank officiating and a specialized choir performing. Burial occurred at Malvern cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Julia Ann Pinkley Byers, born in Bedford County Pennsylvania, married John Gilman in 1862 and William Byers in 1863. The Byers family moved from Missouri to Mills County, Iowa, in 1859 and lived on a farm near Malvern before later relocating to Malvern and then to their granddaughter’s home. She leaves a husband, daughter Alberta, son Bernardo Lee Byers, ten grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and two sisters.

James Albert Wienhar died February 24 1923 at Hatcher M Hospital Wellington Kansas aged 17 years after a cancer illness.
