Death of Roy C. Laird a Tabor leading citizen
Roy C. Laird died at his Tabor home February 24 after a brief pneumonia illness. Funeral services were held February 26 at the Congregational church with large attendance. burial in Tabor Cemetery under Knights of Pythias lodge direction. Laird, born March 30, 1877, spent youth in Sidney then moved to Tabor. married Susie Cox on September 4, 1895. survived by wife Susie, four children Edna Comfort deceased, Mary Aleda, Harold Roy, Ralph Anderson, Dick Russell, and two grandchildren Patricia Ann and Jean Ardette.

The first home declamatory contest with Dorothy Bateman Nichols as coach and twelve contestants took place at the opera house last night. Judges named Harold Galt first in oratory, Vingon Goos second, Wilbert Rona third. Elizabeth Bierman won dramatic, Catherine Ewenberg second. Dorothy Pollitt led humorous, with Kenneth Frasier second and Eleele Bierman third. Pollitt earned overall first with a gold medal, Bierman second. the winners will represent at the Glenwood contest.
