Closing Period Near in Soils Program

Iowa farmers are warned by R. M. Evans AAA chairman to verify their acreages for soil depleting and conserving crops under the soil conservation program. The base 100 acres of depleting crops require limits of 83 acres for depleting or grain crops or shift to conserving crops, with 18 percent conserving crops on each farm. Nurse crops and 1936 seedings may qualify as soil conserving crops if pastured, clipping timing crucial. A dollar per acre credit applies to soil conserving crops, and farmers should consult county soil conservation officials or township committeemen for benefit payments and requirements.
