Busy Meeting Of Malvern Legion Auxiliary Unit 520

Malvern Unit 520 of the Harry Hammons American Legion Auxiliary met June 16 at the Malvern Village Lounge with officers and members present. The president led, minutes were read, a county meeting report given by Sylvia Klonis, and an invitation extended for the July 3 district picnic. Officers elected: Zylpha Blackburn president, Grayce Blackburn 1st VP, Lorraine Griffin 2nd VP, Joan Ellison secretary, Mildred Hardy treasurer, Ora Smith chaplain, Jessie Frazier Sgt at Arms, Virginia Hall historian. Wales Lincoln Alumni Hold 20th Reunion

The Wales Lincoln Class of 1957 held its 20th year class reunion with a family picnic at Chautauqua Park in Red Oak on June 4. Six of seven graduates attended, including Edith Hunt Dillion, Charlotte Warren Neumeister, Sam Killinger, Dennis Good, Lois Nikolas Barnett, and Eddie Bud Barnett. Guests from the 1958 class joined, with yearbooks and photos shared. plans were made for a 25 year reunion.

Legion Auxiliary Hold Joint Mills County Meeting

Mills County American Legion and Auxiliary held a joint potluck supper and meeting at the Malvern Liberty Memorial building on June 12. Attendees included Mae Robinson Clayton Hertz Lenora Hertz and other local leaders. Reports covered Boys State attendees from Malvern and district events. a motion to reduce county meetings to four annually passed. Next meeting set for late October after the Fall conference. A July 3 district picnic at Arrowhead Park Neola was announced. Auxiliary and Legion dues are due by Sept. 1.

Malvern Garden Club Tour at Mills Museum

Malvern Garden Club toured the Mills County museum complex on June 14 before a Glenwood Lake Park picnic. Residents of Glen Haven enjoyed downstairs exhibits and the Paul Rowe room. Montgomery County Youth Conservation Corps, guided by D D Davis, drew 25 youths and four adults.

Mrs Wearin Attended CWC Meeting in Colorado

The 39th annual meeting of Country Women's Council U.S.A. convened at Snowmass Colorado from June 15 to 18. Iowa delegate Mrs Otha Wearin attended among four Iowa representatives. keynote by Mary Jane Fate of Fairbanks Alaska. Triennial Conference planned for Nairobi Kenya in October.
