Perkins Sowers Bride in Hastings United Methodist Ceremony

Carol Sue Perkins and Rodney Gayle Sowers wed in a double ring ceremony at Hastings United Methodist Church on Saturday June 7 at 7 p.m. Rev. David Nolte officiated. The bride wore a lace overlay satin gown. attendants wore pink, blue and green. reception followed in the church dining room. The couple reside near Henderson after a Lake of the Ozarks trip and a June 6 rehearsal dinner hosted by Bryan Sowers.

Garden Club Tour and Bridal Shower Report

Garden Club members met in Malvern at 7 4 driving to Shenandoah for a day trip with a KMA garden tour and a May Rose display. An afternoon visit to Kitchee Klatter plant followed by a pleasant day. A miscellaneous bridal shower honored Mrs Julie Hanson at the Malvern Masonic Temple hosted by Mrs Campbell McClure and Miller with blue and white decor and four line readings.

Donna White Feted At Bridal Showers

Miss Donna White was honored at multiple showers in Malvern ahead of her June 21 wedding to Leo Reiken at the Methodist church. Hosts included Mrs. Leo Garrison, Mrs. Betty Byers, Alice Brown, Karen Jones, Eunice Reiken, and Phylis Lincoln. About thirty guests attended the events.

Mr and Mrs John Beals and Cindy visit with Vaughn Hoover and relatives in Council Bluffs Red Oak Omaha and Sidney during a Montana guest stay. Malvern BPW Club met at Zelma Wortman for a June 9 picnic with 18 members and two guests. President Virginia Connor led the meeting, minutes approved, treasurer's report by Erna LaSala, bills paid, savings move approved, notes of thanks read, state convention talks reviewed, by-laws copies to members, and Sept vote planned. New business covered Girl Scout sashes and October meeting location, senior girls tea rescheduled to fall, adjournment follows.

Ready John Todd House for Summer

Alumnae and alumni of Tabor College and members of the Tabor Historical Society gathered June 15 at the Rev. John Todd House, once John Brown's Harpers Ferry arsenal, for a work day. They cleaned the house, mowed lawns, trimmed shrubs, and planned additional restoration. About 50 hours of labor were donated, with coffee and cookies served in the afternoon.

Malvern Couple Announce Engagement of Marcie Sinner

Mr and Mrs Norman Sinner of Malvern announce the engagement of their daughter Marcie to Kevin L Hertz son of Mr and Mrs Clayton Hertz. An August 2 wedding is planned at the United Methodist Church in Malvern. Marcie is a 1974 Malvern Community High School graduate and a sophomore at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Kevin is a 1973 Malvern High School graduate and a junior at UNO.

Rainbow Girls set for Golden Jubilee Session in Ames

Local Rainbow members travel to Ames for the Golden Jubilee Grand Assembly session marking the 30th Iowa anniversary. Governor Robert Ray proclaimed Rainbow Week June 15 to 22, signed June 12 with Miss Marlene Holmes and Mrs. Fred Lindberg present. Participants include Miss Mary Jane Steiner from Emerson, Miss Sue Anne Baer from Malvern, and Peggy with Grand Executive Committee roles.
