Swanson & Y Foster did the work, Hoover & Knight did painting. Mrs Jas Evans and daughter arrive from Buffalo to spend summer with Mrs Fanny Evans. Mr Evans transfers to Rochester New York. The East Liberty Cemetery Association will host an ice cream social on June 20 with a rain date the following night. All interested persons whether members or not are asked to bring cake.

Ethel Himshbaugh Weds Edward Gilmore in Kansas City

Ethel Himshbaugh announced her marriage to Edward Gilmore of Omaha on June 1 in Kansas City. The groom, a Cudahy Packing Company executive, and Mrs Himshbaugh will reside in Omaha with Mr Gilmore visiting Sundays until about August 1.

Bible School Contest Ends With Malvern Victory

In a contest between the Church of Christ at this place and the Church of Christ at Glenwood, Malvern wins by 144.16 points. Over ten weeks Glenwood’s low attendance was 61 and Malvern’s 34. peaks were 138 for Glenwood and 160 for Malvern. Average attendances were 115.8 for Glenwood and 127.2 for Malvern. For the last four weeks, Bible school attendance averaged 147.75 versus 64 last year. The prize is a picnic near Balfour, set for June 25 with Glenwood hosting and every member urged to attend.

Excellent Meeting At Malvern Methodist Church

A missionary meeting hosted by the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society at the Malvern Methodist church drew members from local churches. The program covered The Philippines topics including Location and Area, Origin and Divisions, The Christian Philippine, The Friars, The Insurrection of 1896, and America’s Opportunity with speakers from multiple denominations. A social hour and luncheon followed, leaving attendees inspired about the Philippine work.

Commencement in Rawles Township Seven Lively Graduates Celebrate

Seven bright girls completed Rawles township public schools in a June ceremony at Fairview Church. Rev. Johnson of Tabor College led prayers. Each student delivered orations, recitations, and solos, with Miss Ruth Rodman and Miss Grace Evans delivering notable pieces. Diplomas were awarded by Prof. Johnson as the class sang. A playful aside asked where the boys were amid the proud event.

Len Oviatt, the Shenandoah horse buyer, visited town this week, picking up a large cargo of horses. He has made regular trips, buying more horses than three other buyers in the past year, and pays top prices. He ships to Buffalo 80 and has one of the world's best markets for disposing horses, driving strong prices locally. He buys year round and will come after a good charge for sale if his description is left at Callff's barn.
