Memorial services honor local veterans in East Liberty
A damp Saturday night did not dampen attendance at Memorial services Sunday afternoon in East Liberty. Rev. John C. Turner delivered a fitting address while American Legion members contributed at the cemetery. Local families and visitors from Red Oak, Wales, Council Bluffs, Glenwood, Hastings and other nearby towns attended, with children carrying flags and flowers to the graves. The cemetery faced mowing challenges, but Louis Knop of Malvern contributed power mower help. The June W S C S meeting, Scraps donations, and requests for quilt blocks were noted, along with hospital stays and family visits as community life continued.
