Iowa Corn Crop Outlook Shows Record Potential

Iowa State economist Gene Futrell says July 1 USDA data point to a 4.2 billion bushel national corn crop, slightly above 1965’s record, with 4.5 million harvested acres. Iowa’s forecast is 828 million bushels, up from last year but below 1963’s peak, while weather remaining could push yields higher or lower. Domestic use and exports are expected to grow, with some chance exports miss the 725 million bushel target.
