Federal fuel tax refunds move to income tax returns
Farmers and others must claim federal gasoline refunds as a credit on their annual income tax return rather than on Form 2240. Ernest W. Bacon notes refunds for gasoline used after June 30 1965 are to be credited on Form 1040 for individuals or Form 1120 for corporations, with Form 843 for quarterly refunds of $1,000 or more.
