Banks in Mille county show yearlong deposit rise

Deposits in Mille county banks soared over the past year, with five institutions reporting total deposits of about 2,010,014.41 as of June 1942, a rise from 2,941,261.94 in June 1941 and 2,778,007.70 in December 1941. Malvern Trust & Savings Bank led gains, adding roughly 186,000 over the year and about 50,000 since December. Driver Fined After Highway Accident Near Malvern

A hitchhiker named McGee spent three days in county jail after a Sunday wreck three miles NW of Malvern. The driver, sleepy, yielded control to the passenger, Miss Pearl Miller, causing a collision with a car driven by Thomas Vannauedle near Emerton. All involved escaped serious injury. McGee paid a $30 fine or served three days in jail.
