Processing taxes on farm products affect consumer prices
The processing tax on farm products collected at processing points shifts costs to consumers, yet bears are shared countrywide. Minnesota's 19 percent of wheat tax and Illinois hog taxes show processing centers like Minneapolis and Chicago shape tax impact. Farmers under adjustment programs see higher price receipts while consumers pay small increases in retail goods.

Sorghum Forage Holds Edge For Iowa Farmers
Iowa farmers are advised by H D Hughes head of Farm Crops at Town State college to plant sorghum for next winter forage. Sweet sorghum yields higher quality forage than grain sorghums though late seedings can still produce tonnage. Plant with a corn planter 10 pounds per acre, or drill broadcast. Frosted sorghum is safe after drying. Corn or Sudan grass are alternatives if seed is scarce. Forage crops like rape and millets may also be planted now. chinch bugs favor rape in some areas.
