Mills County Central Fair Sets Premiums and Racing Purse
County fair opens August 6 with a broader premium list and racing purses totaling about 2300 dollars. President Sherman Jones and Secretary J. T. Winter Lecture Course Planned for Malvern
A winter movement to establish a Malvern lecture course began this week. At A E Cooks office yesterday an organization formed with Rev W W Bollinger as President and Rev J E Wilkins as Secretary. Other executive members include A E Cook Dr Corbin and PF Hendricks. A Midland Lyceum Bureau representative agreed to supply a program of entertainments and lectures and to sell 180 season tickets. In Malvern last Thursday afternoon the White Sox defeated Sidney by a fine game of ball. The Sidney team played well but Malvern dominated the contest. Innings score and lineups follow. Storm devastates Tabor area with shattered homes and fatalities
Tabor area residents recount a severe July storm from a local bulletin. Dr BB Haris and sister Agnes rode west of town when hail struck as the team was being unhitched. they later found a mile down the road. Walter Groom's south farm suffered extensive damage with 90 window panes broken, fences down, and six horses killed on tracks. A large church timber struck the Tipple house lot, nearly trapping a family in a cellar. Mrs Anna F Goodwin of Des Moines, visiting O H Snyder, narrowly avoided a 60 foot well when the well curb was blown over by lightning.
