Federal help available for low income Iowa energy bills
Ed D Arcy of West Central Development Corporation announced 374250 dollars in federal funds to aid low income Iowans in a 10 county area with fuel and energy bills. The program, part of Governor Ray s bid for 4.3 million, targets those 65 and older first, and offers up to 250 dollars per delinquent bill plus a 50 dollar cash payment and up to 200 dollars prepaid for future bills. Two income eligible categories exist: delinquent bills with shut off or risk of shut off, and dire need based on past large energy bills. Payments go directly to suppliers after verification, with conditions for prepayment and debt reduction.
