The Dutchman club again scored a remarkable success with their annual Independence Day celebration drawing almost 10 000 people to the fair grounds last Friday. The event showed the club's knack for attracting cars and visitors from several states and areas as members took on duties with zest and responsibility to ensure a successful program.
A proposal urges Malvern to develop Raines Branch into a small park along the southeast corner. It envisions obtaining nearby creek areas for gradual park development, a possible small lake for emergency water supply, and timbered, pleasant recreation paths through the creek. The plan aims to boost local support for the club and improve leisure space.

Wm Henry Douglas 73 died suddenly July 2 at his Emerson home. Funeral at the Emerson Methodist Church followed by burial in Emerson cemetery. Pallbearers included Alfred Hetherington and Harold Nelson. Widowed wife Jessie and children, Virginia and Barbara, mourn him. service conducted by Rev. E B Englund. Community notes include local gatherings, church events, and visits of relatives.
