Social scenes and church events spotlight campus gathering

The Saturday banquet emphasized mission work with poets Spotlight on the Social Scene and regional clergy in attendance. Teachers from 12 states formed the faculty while Sunday included a Communion dedication at Kings Chapel on campus. Birthdays featured Mrs. Harvey Watts hosting her granddaughter Marsha Fanning with Bruce Wirth and several Council Bluffs guests.

FB Women's Meeting Works on Bicentennial

The Mills County Farm Bureau hosted the regular Farm Bureau Women's Committee on June 23. Eight members plus guest Phillis Skerritt attended. They discussed the Bicentennial quilt, summer programs for 1975-76, and a fair booth. Trooper Bill Zenor spoke on eye training for motorist safety. A dairy tasting bee accompanied a dairy promotion.

Mrs Scott Attends UMW Conference at Cornell College

Kenneth Scott attended the Iowa Conference School of Missions at Cornell College Mt. Vernon from June 26 to 29. The event, sponsored by United Methodist Women’s Division of Missions, drew about 625 participants including men women and youth. The theme was Me a Prophet with three studies presented.

Leu Honored For AAL Service

Eugene D. Leu of Malvern completes five years with Aid Association for Lutherans, a fraternal life and health insurer based in Appleton, Wisconsin. He joined in 1970 as a district representative with the Edwin P. Hundt Agency inRalston, Nebraska, and is active in the Southwest Iowa Association of Life Underwriters, having held several offices.

Madrid Hosts Safety Campers

Madrid hosts a four day Safety Camp at the State 4-H Camping Center in Madrid Iowa from July 9 to 12 Cheryl Sell of Glenwood Mills County will attend The camp aims to raise youth awareness of safety issues and encourage them to promote safety practices in their families communities and counties Workshop leaders include staff from the Iowa Department of Public Instruction the Iowa Conservation Commission the National Guard and the Safety Camp Committee

Jeanne Davis Dies at 52 Co-Publisher in Seymour

Jeanne Frances Davis, 52, co-publisher of the Seymour Herald since 1947 and former Clarinda Herald-Journal editor, died June 21 in Kansas City. She was one of two women to win the Iowa Master Editor-Publisher Award in 1971. Survived by husband, son in Kentucky, daughter-in-law, sister, granddaughter, steps, and brothers.
