Mardi Gras themed benefit dinner dance at Murphy Memorial

The ninth annual dinner dance by the Auxiliary of Murphy Memorial hospital occurs Saturday Feb. 8 at Red Oak Elks Lodge. Festive New Orleans decor, lanterns and pirate alley set the mood with hors d oeuvres at 6:30, dinner at 7, dancing at 9 to The New Sound. chaired by Mrs. Mueller Brower Skallery and Mayne with prizes for Mrs Butler and Mrs Anderson, tickets $8 from Mrs. Phelps Malvern. Proceeds fund hospital auxiliary coffee shop equipment during rebuild. shop to reopen in spring.

Mary Ruth Circle UMW In Joint Meet

The combined meeting of the United Methodist Women and Mary Ruth Circle occurred Thursday January 9 at the church with Jessie Wearin presiding and Genevieve DeWitt leading pledge service. Payments to schools and missions were down in 1974, pledges urged for early year. Viola Jackson led Mary Ruth business as reports were shared. The Thrift shop had a good year and two members volunteered for Jan 11 duties. Mary Ruth Circle served ASCS dinner for Fremont-Mills hosts. UMW served lunch for John Deere promotion day Jan 6. The quilting committee paused new projects for now. refreshments by Lorraine Newell and Helena Alberts.

St Johns Ladies Plan Fee Events in 1975 Meeting

The first St John s Lutheran Ladies Aid meeting of 1975 was Jan 8 with officers Diana Knop president Virginia Bowen vice president Libby Grindle secretary and Alma Knop treasurer. Rev D Mann vacancy pastor from Shenandoah attended. Plans included serving lunch at the Fritz and Les Knop sale Feb 11. A 12 o clock favorite casserole dinner is planned for Feb 12. Lois Leu and Catherine Walker led refreshments.

Malvern BPW Club met at Kazy Kitchen January 18 for dinner and a Farm Bureau meeting. Plans were made for an Eastern Star dinner. Mary Spiker initiated seven new members Roberta Austin Letha Bayes Joan Helmich Gloria Folkers Lola Hasselquist Ann Kimble Erna LaSalla Kathy Ryan. Genevieve Payne described a European tour. Santa's unexpected Christmas Eve visit ended with a flat tire, a neighbor helped, and excited children witnessed the scene.
