Town News of Adjustment Progres in State Meeting Planned
Reports indicate a state meeting on the cotahog contract will be held in town with state committee field staff and extension service reps attending. A plan for 10 district conferences and training schools for township workers aims to explain new administrative rulings and contract details, followed by a brisk signup campaign. Storage figures show Desi park stock at 130 percent year ago and 121 percent of five year average for hogs, signaling the program’s growing need. Secretary Wallace calls adjustment methods a stopgap, while dairy farmers seek a $200 million fund for dairy and beet cattle programs.

Iowa State forage crops investigator F B Wilkins warns a serious seed shortage for legume and hay crops could push prices higher before spring. About 40 million acres may leave wheat, corn, and cotton production with only enough seed for roughly 10 percent of that land to hay and pasture crops.
