Mills County Republican Women host Lincoln Day Tea

The Mills County Republican Women held a Lincoln's Day Tea at Mrs. William Scherle's home last Thursday to honor Mrs. Nixon's White House birthday March 16. Twenty five guests signed a birthday card and joined an afternoon program with Des Moines legislature and Governor's mansion tours planned for March.

Miscellaneous Shower Honors Miss Turner Bride to Be

Ames Sharon Turner, bride to be of Jon Carson, was honored at a miscellaneous bridal shower held February 13 at 7:30 pm in the home of Mrs. Gail Town Ames. Twenty six guests from the College of Home Economics attended. Bridal Bingo prizes went to Mrs. Jim Vanderholm and Mrs. Helen Young. Decorations featured rose petal pink and white. Guests assisted with gifts were sisters Gerry Turner and Mrs. Lowell McMillen. Hostesses were Mrs. Dean Howell Mrs. Jack Richey Mrs. Gary Venneman and Mrs Town.

RLCA Meeting at Marshalltown Includes State Boosters

Attendees from the Iowa Rural Letter Carriers Association and Ladies Auxiliary gathered at a Marshalltown hotel on February 22 for mid winter state wide booster events. Special guests included National RLCA secretary Lester Miller and Newell auxiliary president Mrs Weldon Anderson. The event supported Easter Seal camps and research and announced the 1969 state convention set for Cedar Rapids June 15-18 at Hotel Roosevelt Motor Inn.

DeMolay Chapter to Install Officers in Silver City

The Nishna Valley Chapter of the Order of DeMolay will install officers Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Silver City Masonic Temple. Long-Time Church School Worker Honored at Party

Mrs. Phyllis Skerritt hosted 14 ladies Saturday to honor Mrs. Cash Jamulewicz for eight years helping in Silver City Methodist church primary school. They gave a housewarming gift as the couple move to a new farm near Malvern after 19 years in rural Silver City. Fire scare at Rev F G Barnes home occurred last Tuesday when furnace motor and wiring burned. no fire. Local social news notes birthdays and weekend visits among area families and a Blue and Gold Club Scout banquet at Malvern Community Building.

OES Star of Eastern Star schedules school of instruction

The Order Star of the Eastern Star met at Silver City Temple. A chapter school of instruction and inspection were announced for Friday March 14 at 12 30 p m and 7 30 p m with district instructor Mrs Leslie Voss. A 6 p m dinner was to be served by the W S C S at the Methodist church dining room. A special ceremony honored the current organist Mrs Wilbert Bond and past organist Mrs Maybelle Adams with glitter star gifts and musical motes. Community social plans and local visits are noted with several residents visiting relatives in Omaha and Strahan. The Community Club schedules a March 4 meeting at Silver City Gym at 9 30 p m with a family program to follow.
