East Liberty marks a Sunday observance for Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Maddocks prior to their move to a new home near Avoca Nebraska. About 22 diners enjoyed a noon meal, group singing followed, and an electric clock was presented to the honorees by the Sunday school and WSCS.
A miscellaneous shower was held in St Patricks Hall for Miss Irene Hughes and Louis Meena, whose wedding is set for Monday at St Patricks Church. The event, sponsored by Mrs. Emmett Hughes Mrs. George James and Mrs. Joe Marfin, drew a large crowd including out of town relatives. Meanwhile Tony Head visited his mother in Omaha while Earl and Merle Woods, Navy sailors from San Diego, will report to Norman after a two week leave. Bertha Regan returned from Chicago where her son Mike’s wife had surgery. Rain greeted farmers though sleet made travel hazardous.
Mrs Joe Nebel and Miss Kay from Longmont and Cole spent a week visiting Jimmie Nebel for a shower and wedding on February 19. Mrs Ray Skalberg stayed with cousin Mrs Ed Gutenritter. Mrs Edna Maher, formerly of here now Shenandoah, underwent major surgery in Clarkson hospital Omaha last Saturday and is improving. Emmett Hughes and Joe Doyle were patients at Mercy hospital Council Bluffs for checkups and possible surgery.
Sonderman daughter of Mrs. John Sonderman Omaha and James J Nebel Longmont Colo wed at St. Cecelia Cathedral at 10 am Saturday February 19 Rev Charles Brodersen officiated Bride wore chantilly lace and nylon tulle gown with basque bodice and cascade bouquet Attendants included sister Rosemary Sonderman maid of honor Ushered by John Sonderman and Frank Gillespie Reception at Wiberman Club Newlyweds to reside on farm near Weaver family linked notices and military mentions follow.

Key points: no cross-compliance yet for price support. full compliance with both corn and wheat allotments needed for ACP. zero wheat allotment blocks wheat price support and ACP. small exemptions for wheat up to 15 acres. no total farm acreage cap for 1955. prior plans to limit vegetable production and total allotments were dropped.
Sunday February 27 at Strahan Methodist Church ministers and teachers will host a pot luck dinner and discussion with Mrs Hubbard from the Area Office of Christian Education. Monday noon the Pinochle Club met at the Hathaway Home with guests from Hastings and Glenwood. high winners were Myrle Ellis Grindle and Everett Gipe. Various local residents hosted dinners and visits through the week, with church services led by Mrs Beebout and readings by Patay Gearhart and Julie Beebout Jr.
Ames visitors and family gatherings fill a week of small town activity. Joy and Mary Jo Hathaway travel, neighbors host Sunday dinners, WSCS members meet at the church with devotions and planning for a Bancom sale, and various residents visit relatives in Council Bluffs Omaha and Henderson while health checks and hospital visits conclude the period.
Many residents hosted or visited relatives and friends over the weekend. Mr and Mrs A C Gamble Emerson visited in Roy Quimby home Monday afternoon. John Scott U S Marines, and Chester Hall and Joe Hoover on furlough from the Marines were among visitors. Orel Gillen spent the weekend in Emerson. Mrs Arno Miller visited her grandmother Mrs Sally Lee at Mercy hospital Council Bluffs. Mrs Gladys Hoffman Glenwood visited Vic Cromwell home over weekend. Others included Mr and Mrs P E Benedict Jr Emerson dining with Arno Miller, and several pairs calling in Strahan Donovan and Alan Coulter Stranrear Sask arrival to HW Thinhar home.
