The S.C. Baptist Church marked its 81st anniversary with a large turnout and community notices. Frank and Herbert relations, a funeral for Irvin, and several local gatherings across Malvern, Lincoln, Red Oak, and Omaha were noted, including family visits and Saturday services.
Congregation notices reveal an event at Porters on February 16 with a party, a book review day on February 24 at 7 pm, and a series on The High Hours of Methodism. Speakers Cavler, Mrs Harry Ad and Hew Burzain will discuss Christian thought and music led by Kiikman. Public invited.
The weekend church calendar lists Silver City Baptist Church services at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. with a midweek prayer meeting at 7:39 p.m. at the Anderson home. A sector meeting with Dr. Paul Smith of Des Moines is planned for Glenwood Baptist Church, plus multiple obituary and visit notes, birthday and anniversary celebrations, and community notices from Council Bluffs and nearby areas.
A list of neighbors and relatives shared meals and visits across area homes. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Awe and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stoediil, Mr. and Mrs. Donal d, Mr. and Mrs. Art Miller, and many others. Family and birthday celebrations marked a weekend of social gatherings near Vilisea and Council Bluffs.
Wesley Chapel activities include Sunday School at 14 a.m. and church service at 11 a.m. Faith is the sermon topic with YF meeting at 7:29 p.m. WSCS meets Feb 27 with lesson on The Church and Mental Health led by Pearl Asell. Members hosted by Elsie Wilson Ruby Deitchler and Mary Allely. Several local residents and visitors mentioned, including Johnny Wilson’s return from illness and multiple travels and family visits around the area.
A study of southwest Iowa libraries highlights Malvern as a model small-town repo with a 1200‑volume collection, 800 monthly circulations, and a beloved librarian Mrs. Doris Beckwith who has recently resigned. The town boasts an 8,000‑volume system, many reference works, 31 magazines, and active school and community cooperation.
