A large crowd from several states attended J. J. Swain & Sons hog sale yesterday. The top bids included Cherry King Orion at $500, Jack's Orion Queen at $965, and Ideal Lady Orion at $975 sold to J. L. Kern of Texarkana. The first seven head brought $4,075 and the full sale totaled $15,090 averaging about $285 per head.
Peaceville school presents Tommy's Wife with help from Malvern youth at the Peaceville schoolhouse Friday February 14 at eight. Proceeds go to the War Orphans fund. Box supper after the play. boxes sold by auction. Admission 10 cents. ladies bringing boxes admitted free.
The Kensington Baptist will meet at Mrs. Fred Mulholland's home on Thursday afternoon February 13. Members are asked to attend early to handle several business matters before the social portion. New members and friends are welcome.
Harold Leeson formerly of Strahan and Miss Helen Haden of Hastings were married in Omaha on February 6. The bride had spent the past year in Terre Haute Indiana and had recently returned to Omaha living with her brother Joe Haden and family before moving to Indiana. Neighbors and friends extend best wishes for happiness and prosperity as the couple begin married life.
Last Wednesday Mrs Geo Hilton celebrated her birthday with an afternoon gathering hosted by Mrs Clark Hilton. About six friends arrived to enjoy fancy work contests and a dainty lunch before departure. Attendees included Mesdames I N Summers J N Swain W D Mc Causland Verne McCord and Miss Town Deardorff and Inez Summers.
