Emerson Baptist Church names new officers and committees

Emerson Baptist Church elected new officers at the annual meeting in February. Officers include Teacons T Greenwood and Groves Hascall. Clerk H F Greenwood. Treasurer Ralph Good. senior and junior choristers Mrs Irah Durbin and Dortha Sellers. trustees and ushers named, plus auditing and building committees. The report covers religious education and nominating roles. A separate note records a donation by Emerson Woman’s Club to soldiers home and the death of Joe Harville of Red Oak with funeral details.

Emersonian Wed in Red Oak Jan 22 Red Oak couple announces daughter’s marriage

Mr and Mrs Harold Hunt of Red Oak announce the marriage of their daughter Pauline Louise to Charles Eugene Walker son of Mrs Metrue Walker and John. The ceremony took place at Bethlehem Lutheran church Red Oak with Rev and Hola officiating. Attendants were Lane Morse and his wife. Only immediate relatives attended. The bride wore navy blue with white and pink carnation corsage. A small reception followed at the bride’s parents home. The serving table featured pink lace, a pink and white two tier cake, and pink tapers. Guests included Mrs Marion DeBolt Mrs Leonard Clark and Mrs Donovan Hunt. They reside at 207 Elm Street Red Oak.

John Clark New President of Community Club

John Clarke named president with Max Green as vice president Glenn Cooper secretary and Harold Cooper treasurer at the Community Club meeting Eleven members attended the junior auxiliary session making Valentines for Omaha veterans followed by refreshments. Community events include birthday dinners open house and a Lions Club box social in late February with public invite.

Prien Hosts Crawfords at New Home Housewarming

A group gathered Monday evening for the Crawfords first housewarming at their new Prien home. After canasta, guests enjoyed refreshments and the couple were given a cash gift to select a gift themselves. Mrs. M D Lang photographed the event with present attendees including Harald Sowers Vernon Johnson George Jones Warren Honeyman and others.

Dallas Noel from Louistang and Mrs. Wi Nnot of Stanton visited here Tuesday with Mr and Mrs Max Green and family. Mr and Mrs Shook received word Tuesday of the birth of Debra Sue the great granddaughter born Feb 7 at Atlantic hospital to their granddaughter and husband RN Finnell. Mrs Finnell remembered in Emerson as Donna Vannanadie. Mr and Mrs Shook went to Atlantic Wednesday to meet the young Indy.

Bergren Porter Engagement Announced for Shenandoah Emerson

Mr and Mrs Paul Bergren of Red Oak announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Betty to Marion Porter, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Porter of Emerson. Betty Bergren is a stenographer at Earl May Store in Shenandoah and Marion Porter works at Lang Produce in Emerson. No definite wedding date set.

Growth Removed From Earl Graham’s Eye

Earl Graham underwent removal of a growth from an eye at Red Oak hospital on Thursday and returned home Friday. Mrs. Earle Crawford assisted at the schoolhouse Thursday. Mrs. Lois Eisel remains in critical condition at Red Oak hospital.
