Silver Citians marked the holiday with family dinners and gatherings across households in the area. Numerous local residents hosted relatives and friends from Council Bluffs, Omaha, McClelland, Mineola, and beyond, sharing Christmas meals and social visits through the day and weekend.
Otto Buch sells the Buch Of Co oil business to Farm Service Co of Council Bluffs with new owners taking possession. Buch, who operated the business for ten years, will stay to assist briefly. The Buch family plans an extended Oregon-area vacation before relocating to the west. The notice outlines Christmas and holiday gatherings of local residents.
OES Chapter held its regular meeting on Wednesday electing officers. Worthy Matron Mrs. W. Bond and Worthy Patron W. Bond led the slate with associate matron Mrs. Art Goehring and associate patron Art Goehring. Secretary Mrs. Loran Borer and treasurer Mrs. George Burgoin were chosen, with conductress Mrs. Donald Buregoin and associate conductress Mrs. Ronald Bryant. Trustees are Mrs. Emma Markel and Mrs. Ren Burgoin. A joint installation is planned Friday, January 6 at 6 p.m. in the Masonic Temple. public is invited.
On Sunday January 1 191 Kensington on Heste Mrs J A Burgess announced election of and collection of Cain cards will take place.
Robert Clive Pullman born June 14 1902 in Silver City died December 17 1955 at his father Frank Pullman’s home in Omaha after a lingering illness. He trained as an interior decorator in San Jose California. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1953 and brothers Claire 1919 and Ward 1955. Survived by his father a daughter Claire Hammons and two grandchildren. Interment in Silver City cemetery.
Friday evening events at the Jack Burgoin and George Burgoin homes honored a ninth birthday and hosted relatives including Edd Riggins George Burgoin and Bill Hunt. Des Moines visitors Vi Rew and Jimmie arrived for holidays before travels to Omaha. Betty Conger Mary Conger and Betty joined Christmas dinners with Bill McGruder in Council Bluff. Roger Luke and family visited Missouri over the weekend.
Prizes were given for best Christmas decorations in both business and home categories. Silver City Supply won first in business, with Butch Prien's pool hall second and Pullman Grocery third. Home prizes went to Dr and Mrs C O Johnson, with several other residents receiving honors. Christmas gatherings and local club plans are noted, including a Commercial Club meeting on Jan 6 and multiple holiday visits.
