Francis Rozmatz Claude Wilson and Louis Knop staged the strongest home lighting yet. 4 H club sponsors Austin Bass Dr. and Mrs. Dean Darling praised visiting Oklahoma teens for hospitality and joked about fast drivers. Rodney Powles earned praise as a top paper carrier handing out pencils with his name. Roger Benton traveled from Mesa to visit, and neighbor Bob Schurtz cleared a snowed driveway with his tractor, earning thanks.

The Malvern community held numerous Christmas dinners and gatherings at homes across Malvern, Shenandoah, and nearby towns. Families including the Shauls, Fishers, Bass, Roberts, Irvin, Coddington, Gipe, Christensen, Chamberlain, and Lukehart joined relatives from Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Hamburg, Mt. Ayr, and Glenwood for festive meals and gift exchanges. Several college students and service members were home for the holidays, with visits extending to Emerson and Columbus Junction areas.
