Francis Rozmatz Claude Wilson and Louis Knop staged the strongest home lighting yet. 4 H club sponsors Austin Bass Dr. and Mrs. Dean Darling praised visiting Oklahoma teens for hospitality and joked about fast drivers. Rodney Powles earned praise as a top paper carrier handing out pencils with his name. Roger Benton traveled from Mesa to visit, and neighbor Bob Schurtz cleared a snowed driveway with his tractor, earning thanks.
Strahan Methodist Church announces worship at 9:30 a.m. with Sermon This is Student Recognition Sunday and Sunday School at 10:30 a.m. The WSCS meets at the church. Christmas dinner guests included the Wolford family and Malin/Finchem families among others. multiple local families travel to Amarillo and Des Moines for holidays. gatherings at Essex and Ft. Riley, with visits in Malvern and Malvern area homes.
Gilbert Newville and his daughter Luana from Pratt Kansas traveled Saturday and returned Monday. He is the brother of Mrs. R. RR. Kler and Mrs. A. F. Rabe. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pierce and family spent Christmas Day with their parents at Stanbury Missouri.
The Malvern community held numerous Christmas dinners and gatherings at homes across Malvern, Shenandoah, and nearby towns. Families including the Shauls, Fishers, Bass, Roberts, Irvin, Coddington, Gipe, Christensen, Chamberlain, and Lukehart joined relatives from Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Hamburg, Mt. Ayr, and Glenwood for festive meals and gift exchanges. Several college students and service members were home for the holidays, with visits extending to Emerson and Columbus Junction areas.
