Farmers gathered for the Farm Bureau annual meeting voiced stronger confidence about relief and future prospects than many business leaders. Attendees noted Christmas decorations in Malvern and urged self reflection and community ties, while editorials critiqued dinner fundraisers and urged restraint amid economic strain.
Mrs Lucius Matthews nee Cotminis Cummings a Tabor pioneer dies at 93 after guiding Oberlin Iowa migration to Tabor and helping build church and college. Survived by seven children, seventeen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many friends. Funeral held at Congregational church in Tabor with readings of her own verses.

Survived by husband daughter Maxine son Gerald, mother Mrs J H Retelsdorf, sister Mrs George Haag, brother Otto Retelsdorf. Funeral at Jacques residence with First Church of Christ Scientist conducting.
