Harold Swett 40th wedding anniversary honored in Mills County

Harold Swett and his wife will be honored at an open house on their fortieth anniversary at Strahan United Methodist Church on Saturday December 24 from 2 to 4 PM. Hosted by their children Ron Curtis Larry Swett Marvin Fritz Dwaine Swett and David Swett. No gifts requested. The note includes a cranberry sherbet recipe and a December birthday party to be held December 20 at 2 PM.

Christmas party plans thwarted by bitter cold miss

Nishna Care Center residents faced cancellation of the 39ers Christmas party and potluck due to frigid weather. Harmonica musician Frank Willey from Glenwood performed Thursday afternoon. December 4 services were held at the Christian church in Tabor. Ida Schultz, age 95, celebrated with relatives in the activity room as Rev. Fred Coggburn presided.

Legion Auxiliary Joint Christmas Potluck at Max Blackburns

The Harry Hammons Post of the American Legion and the Auxiliary held their annual joint potluck supper and Christmas party at the Max Blackburn home. Hosts were joined by Bill Blackburn, Darrell Frederick son, John Hall, Don Primrose, Ed Walkers, Frank Chamberlain, Mae Robinson, Jessie Swadley, Ellen Lockabill, Della Kauffman and Gladys Evans. A brief business meeting followed the meal and a Christmas grab bag.

Yule Services at St Johns Church Christmas Eve

St Johns Lutheran church five miles northwest of Hastings hosts a Christ exalting service on December 24 at 7 30 p m titled Gather Around the Christmas Tree. Children Sunday School staff and choirs participate with Christmas Day worship on December 25 at 10 a m titled The Blessings and Joys of Christmas in Hymns Carols and Music with Mrs JoAnna Perkins at the organ Anne Seipold at the organist.

Glenwood Chapter DAR met Tuesday December 6 at Bertha Hopp home for a cooperative dinner. Fern Widows Ruth Johnson and Bernice Clipson assisted. Viola Hathaway was received into the chapter. Mrs Edmundson attended as a guest. Phyllis Frederickson and Eileen South led a silent auction to raise funds for DAR projects.
