Congregation notes Sunday school service times and meetings at Henderson Methodist and Henderson Christian Church. Announcements include anonymous flowers for six weeks, Christmas program rehearsals, charity events, and upcoming meetings in December and January. Local families and visitors mentioned with hobby and civic group activities.
Funeral services were held for Dr. R. L. South 64 at Henderson Methodist church with Rev. Fred Martin officiating. Burial followed in Farm Creek Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Velma a daughter Barbara of Jacksonville Tex a sister Mrs Lela aluvet of Westwood ND and a brother Levi of Massena NY.
Imogene and several locals attended the Malvern Fireman's Frolic Thursday night. The program featured Jimmy Murphy an Irish tenor master of ceremonies with tunes like McNamara's Band and a Til Kinney impersonation. Jackie Hayes performed a hula Tap dance, Earl Morgan presented Rapsody in Smoke tricks, and the Ralabanows accordion act plus Lady of Spain were showcased with Preston Love orchestra. Shooting gallery and refreshments filled the basement while Rosalyn Sander and Carolyn Gilmore led top marks.
The Re formed Church youth stage a Christmas program on Sunday evening December 18. St Patrick’s school and the Public School plan programs for December 28 at St Patrick’s and December 22 at the Public School. Mr and Mrs Paul Maher and John Scheibler visited Omaha for Thanksgiving. Pelster family moved into the Melvin Larson house. Several named individuals served as waitresses at the PRA banquet at Farragut High School. Local events include a dance at the Public School and a late November gathering with arrangements at Shallells store. A community dinner, entertainment, and charity table were noted, with many attending despite bad weather.
Community notes report Rev Father Doyle returning home from Dubuque after a family death. Imogene 4 H members honored at Malvern dinner with Mike Laughlin Gary Laughlin Eddie Laughlin and Shirley Doyle recognized. Nettie Septka hospitalized in Hamburg with pneumonia hopes to return soon. Funeral for Allen Black held at Imogene Cemetery. he was father to Blanche Trenholm and Gene O’Brien. Pat Laughlin visited California. Dean Maher remains there with his brother. Art Green hosted relatives for Sunday dinner as Whitey Waldron joined from Shenandoah. Several residents ill this week with infections. names include Jimmy and Jerry Maher Art Green Joe McGargill family Sharon Saner and Jonnie King.
A Pleasant Valley School program led by teacher Mrs. Hoover is planned for Thursday evening December 22. Students will perform with Mrs. Hoover directing, as the town awaits a Christmas display. Local families, including Nagel and Shook, are noted among visitors and travelers in the surrounding community, with several residents visiting relatives in Red Oak and Avoca.
