Emerson MYF held a Sunday banquet at the church with hydro-foamed wax figure decorations. Linda Johnson and Sue Ann Simpson led songs while Sharon Eastwood greeted attendees. Jan Ridgeway of Council Bluffs shared Europe Girl Scout slides from the summer trip. Gifts were given to Mrs. Dorothy Johnson and Mrs. Lucile Russell, and Linda Johnson, Sue Ann Simpson, and Dianna Fields sang He. Darlene Sandquist, Dixie Gage and Marilyn Wax performed Silver Bells. Emerson Women's Club Chorus at December meeting

The Emerson Women's Club met Tuesday December 4 at the Methodist church for a 33 o'clock dessert luncheon and gift exchange. After luncheon the business meeting began with the pledge and club collect. The Spirit of Christmas was the theme. Christmas carols were sung and a program by Mrs LeRoy Johnson. Mrs Jessie Fisher and the Women’s Club Chorus were presented. Luncheon hosts were Mrs Ivan Durbin, Mrs Will Kerns, Mrs Marvin Hunt, Mrs Arthur Allen and Mrs Donald Eastwood.

Hillsdale Family Night Supper Enjoyed by All

About fifty people attended Hillsdale Church Sunday for the Monthly Family Night supper at seven. Hosts were the Dale Sell family with Ernest Brower absent. A lively program followed featuring Roger Sell and a band, comedy by Jim Sell and Hosalee Wright, carol singing by Terry Sell and others, modern dances, and duets by Carolyn Hunt and Dan Lenz with guitar.

Hillsdale Church Corn Yielded 172 Bushels Sold to Local Farmer

The Hillsdale Church corn on George Wright acreage yielded 172 bushels and was picker shelled by a member, selling for 1.02 per bushel to a local farmer. Proceeds go toward the church building note. Community notices list visits and events including a junior high Christmas party at Glenwood High School, relatives in from Sidney, and gatherings in Tabor and Red Oak.
