The W E C S met at the church for a cooperative pot luck dinner and husbands day. Mrs Zeno Bass and Mrs Harold Isom hosted the food and coffee while about eight men attended. A brief meeting approved laying the upstairs floor carpet and vestibule with plans to extend the pulpit across the front by Christmas.
The Mills County Board of Supervisors met October 6 1947 with Supervisors Clark Agan Rickey Swarts and others present. Claims were read and approved including items from Gearhart Lbr Co Burlington Transp Co City of Glenwood and many local suppliers. per diem plus numerous labor and education expenditures were recorded and filed for audit.
Mr and Mrs Ellis Grindle and Kenneth were guests of Mr and Mrs Charles Wright in Thurman on Friday. Shirley Lea visited Sunday dinner with Mr and Mrs Tom White and Mable. Bob Blunt family joined Elila Grindle family for Sunday dinner. Dorothy Waterworth was taken to Edmundson hospital in Council Bluffs last Wednesday by ambulance and returned home Friday. Mary Lou Laughlin spent the weekend with her parents near Hastings. Lyle Coddington family and Zeno Bass were in Qmahs Saturday.
The Mills County Board of Supervisors approved Soldier's Exemptions for ENALD Dean and Edward Piper and accepted the Recorder, Auditor, and Sheriff's fee quarterly reports. They authorized a beer sale permit and bond for Roy Springer Mineola Iowa and raised wages for several crews including bridge foreman and dragline operators.
