A dried wallow southwest of Ilbia in Monroe county, once a large mud area used as a baseball diamond, has been deepened into a pond. A freshly dug grave found nearby by a farmer was later shown to be a mound from trappers. J Chester Platt, 17, bit a burr and swallowed it, requiring removal of prongs by Dr. Oscar Alden ten days later. He is the son of Mrs. Divonia Platt of Red Cub.
A sheriff sale notice from Mills County Iowa dated November 26 1937 states H H Cheyney pursues execution against S P Stranathan and Almira Stranathan to sell one half interest of Almira Stranathan in multiple parcels in Township 73 43 and 35 and 36 in Glenwood. The sale set for December 61 1937 runs 9 am to 4 pm at the Mills County Courthouse with cash on the highest bid. The judgment originated February 20 1924 for 6622 78 plus costs.
Mills County Iowa sold Lots 536 and 537 Hastings to Carl Hodge after a 1935 tax sale. Redemption expires ninety days from completed service of this notice. Deed will be issued to the buyer if no redemption is made within the period. Dated November 16, 1937.
