Glenwood State school received a citation for meritorious service for progress in care treatment and habilitation of the retarded at the American Legion State convention in Davenport. The award was recommended by Department child welfare chairman Robert J. Dickson and presented to acting superintendent Leonard W. Lavis by Department commander Maynard D. Coffey, with a similar honor given to Woodward State hospital and school.
