Birthday Supper Honors Mrs McMillen at Cooperative Meal

Frid ay evening hosts Mr and Mrs Loyd McMillen and family in Lowell for a cooperative birthday supper honoring Mrs McMillen. Guests included Paul and McMillen of Logan Leonard Fletcher Melvin Leu and others from Hastings Teasalie Turner Omaha and Gerry Turner. Ice cream and cake followed the celebration.

Hardy Family Picnic Weekend Guests in Malvern and Surrounding Areas

A long list of visitors gathered in Malvern and nearby towns for a Sunday picnic at West Park. Attendees included Corwin Hardy and family, Verlin Hardy and family, Truman Hardy and family, and Galen King with Hastings connections, plus relatives from Stevens and Glenwood.

American Legion Citation To Glenwood State School

Glenwood State school received a citation for meritorious service for progress in care treatment and habilitation of the retarded at the American Legion State convention in Davenport. The award was recommended by Department child welfare chairman Robert J. Dickson and presented to acting superintendent Leonard W. Lavis by Department commander Maynard D. Coffey, with a similar honor given to Woodward State hospital and school.

Sunday Visitors and Harvest Notes Near Hastings

Dave and David Haney and Mr and Mrs Jack Haney visited Mr and Mrs Clarence Myers. Mr and Mrs Otha Dickersbach and family were guests of Mr and Mrs Les Knop and Karlette near Hastings. A shower was appreciated this past week. Hay baling continues and cribs are being emptied for the new crop. There is a hint of approaching autumn in the air.

Allelys in accident enroute to Oregon

Mr and Mrs Clifford Allely left last week for Springfield Oregon in a cabin camper Their grandsons Steven and Roger returned home after weeks visit The Allelys sent word from Laramie Wye that they were in an accident and continuing to Oregon by bus Their pickup was damaged and the camper demolished

Wesley Chapel Service and Sunday School Schedule

Regular services resume at Wesley Sunday with lay leader Bill Harbor of Henderson delivering the morning message. Rev. and Mrs. Rowe return this week, with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Local visits include Mrs. R. V. Felt and family trips to Keota and Red Oak, while 4-H Hastings Junior Feeders meet at Douglas Deitchler’s home and neighbors host visiting relatives from Council Bluffs Des Moines and Griswold.
