Strahan community notes recount church repairs and cleanup efforts, a torn down elevator landmark, visits by families and friends, birthday gatherings for local residents, and ongoing property work including clearing weeds and removing trees. Townsfolk travel to nearby towns for visits, medical needs, and institute sessions, with multiple residents hosting relatives over weekends.
Mesdames Ruby Slaueht Marguerite Seeger and Pearl Jackson hosted a pink and blue shower for Mrs. Bob Williams with 25 guests and refreshments. The column lists numerous visits, dinners, picnics and travels among local families including Harman Asmussen Seeger Ulm and Buffingtons with trips to Omaha Boston Salt Lake City and Colorado.
Dean McLain and B B Smith visit Wyoming this week while Davenport residents Glenn Cooper Connie and Glenda spend Saturday with Davenport relatives. Charles Wheeler and Billie Des Moines visitors join Lester Thomas family in Center and Fort Dodge trip. Edna to teach in Fort Dodge this fall after Friday business, Sunday school picnic at Legion Park, and a trip to Black Hill with Jon Morse.
Most of Omaha attended services Sunday morning and evening at Wesley Church. The Good Will club met with Mrs Auth Cole hosting, plans for Sept 20 with Mrs Arthur and Mrs Peter Shamblin assisting. The church hosts a noon dinner for the new minister Rev Trimble and family, with Sunday school at 9 30. Primary children in Paris France adopt a war orphan Francoise Noury and seek gifts for her box and postage. Grading on the church road progresses as work nears completion. Wesley youth attend Methodist Institute in Indianola, Dover, and family updates include Dwight Parker’s navy discharge and return home. Rev John Trimble and family arrive from Newcastle Wyoming to the parsonage and will conduct service this Sunday.
