Shower Revives Withering Cornfields in Mills County

A late Wednesday shower plus a smaller one that night brought over an inch of rain to Mills County, renewing moisture for crops after three weeks of drought. Southern Iowa saw general rain but light in spots, with Tabor receiving heavy rain and Shenandoah only a sprinkle. Cooler air followed Sunday, easing fears of major corn damage though heat earlier caused 25 to 40 percent losses. Farmers debate the final impact, many deeming damage minimal in Mills County.
