Mills County Fair Among Best Ever With New Attractions
The Mills County Fair drew strong crowds last week with perfect weather and a diverse program. Highlights included free barbecue, the Reality contest, Queen of Conservation, professional wrestling, pony and tractor pulls, Rural-Urban picnic, and a strong 4H show with 800 entries in the girls division. Livestock exhibits were notably excellent and overall the event earned wide praise and thanks to fair officials and helpers.

Union Church Services Popular
For a second year in August Malvern the churches held union services to let resident pastors take vacations while maintaining worship. The summer series filled the Methodist church as Rev. Hugh Shiveley delivered the sermon, seen as an ecumenical effort to strengthen local church programs through cooperation.

John Bayes family spent Sunday with her father Lawson Monk of Co Bluffs. Bayes and Monk visited in the Omaha Veterans Hospital. L B Reed and Glen Taylors of Stanton were visitors from Maryland on Sunday. A picnic at Viking Lake included Marvin.
