A son was born to Lemuel Jones and wife north of town on a Monday in August. Senator and Mrs. Allen of Madison Nebr visited T. M. Ais tropes family on their way home from Sidney after the Chautauqua. W. D. Clark has leased the Cadwell blacksmith shop and will operate it. C. R. Aistrope builds a large barn southwest of town, 36 by 40, with space for hay and stock. D. R. Martin oversees. Mrs. J. Maguire will teach at Spring Valley. others plan fall teaching. Banter about a missing dog ends with its safe return after a newspaper ad. Crossings on Main Street improve, with new four-foot-wide structures and better approaches. H. E. Boyer moves to Malvern for the school term. W. W. Cadwell deals in local implements. Willis and Abner Clark to take over. E. W. Bushnell narrowly escaped injury while a windmill tower fell. he is sore but unhurt. Mills County Fair Readies Largest Exhibit Yet
Mills County's thirty first annual central fair will run September 5 to 7 at Malvern. Secretary Swain and staff report strong bookings and expect record livestock entries, with a thoroughbred stock show and no grade stock. Cattle and hog divisions look large, with new breeders and quality stock. Prof Holden may speak on corn, and a youth stock judging contest is planned. Announcement urges planning and premium lists for widespread exhibits.

Talbott Barn Burns in Evening Fire
A fire destroyed J. L. Talbott's barn Monday night just before nine. The fire department arrived quickly but could not save the barn, though they confined the blaze to the structure and saved the adjoining shed. Talbott lost the barn, hay, harness, and other valued items while his home and cows were kept safe. The cause remains a mystery as the barn was closed and no origin is apparent.

Churches Schedule Next Sundays Services and Baptism Plan
The churches announce regular services for next Sunday with Sabbath school at 9 45 and preaching at eleven. A special benevolent offering for Freedmen work is postponed to next Sabbath morning. The pastor will be away for two or three Sundays visiting relatives in Audubon and Cedar counties and at Winona Lake Bible conference. Union services at eight p m at the Baptist church with Methodist Sunday school at 9 45 a m. After the preaching service at Mast Liberty at 3 p m several candidates will be baptized by simmerston near Patrick's mill.

Masons Hold Third Degree Work at Malvern Lodge
About forty Master Masons gathered at Malvern lodge rooms Monday evening for third degree work. Candidate Chas Summers from Salt Lake City received the degree at his request. Afterward, the group dined at Burrus Café with a luncheon provided by the candidate. Out of town attendees included Criswell and Kacrett of Randolph lodge and several others from Emerson, Macedonia, Tabor, and Clearfield lodges.
