Local notes show Cardwell family visits Shenandoah and Omaha guest Albert Fortis. many neighbors travel for the Malvern fair with friends from Crete Des Moines and Waterloo. Reports include births, illnesses, and local business moves as residents enjoy town and county events.
The Garden Club will meet with Mrs J A Flekel Tuesday August 10 at her home near Wesley Chapel. Mrs Fritz is leader. Call to offer rides or seat available in autos.
Aimed for good turnout on Wednesday, August 11, with hopes for strong participation and favorable attendance figures.
Jackey Fouts, a jockey in the daytime running races, was badly injured when his horse struck him after it reared and fell. He was taken to Dr. J. R. Scott and Dr. Kilne for treatment, with severe lip and facial cuts and possible internal injuries. He is staying at the Frank Churchill home where he had rooms during the fair.
Mr and Mrs W W Aistrope were surprised by friends of the younger married folks club on Monday evening. The gathering honored their recent move to town with cards as the main entertainment and light refreshments.
