Mrs Baret Taylor New President Of Fiome Builders

The Silver City Notes report Mrs Baret Taylor elected president of Fiome Builders, succeeding Mrs Glenn Robertson with Mrs John Swarts as secretary-treasurer. The meeting included other attendees and community notices, while obituaries and various social visits fill the local blotter.

Funeral Services Held for Former Silver Citian

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Morton Mills church for John Lyman Bryant aged 74. He died Tuesday morning in a Clarinda hospital. Burial followed in Morton Mills cemetery. He was born in Mills County near Silverton and had lived in Grant 72 years and Morton Mills 35 years. Survivors include his widow Maud, three sons Wayne Trenton Missouri Ralph Inna Falls and John Eldon Council Bluffs, three daughters Orelia Selders Carning Pauline Cooney Corning and Hazel Ponwell Villisca, two sisters Alpha Thompson Omaha and Ia Farrington Kansas City, 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A large local gathering followed the funeral with many relatives and friends from nearby towns.

Local residents attend gatherings and birthdays in Malvern area

The notice lists numerous visits and social events among Malvern and nearby area families including the Galloways in Shenandoah, Wallaces, Stogdills, and Kerrs. It notes hospital returns, business school travels, and a large birthday celebration for John Mass with many kin present.

P. J. Girl Chosen as Delegate to 4-H Health Camp

Wilma Wright of Pacife Junction was selected by Mills County 4-H Committees to represent the county at the Fourth Annual State 4-H Health Camp near Madrid from August 6 to 10. She earns the honor for outstanding 4-H work and interest in health, joining 98 other youths from southern and east central Town in lectures by Iowa State College Extension Service specialists on four health topics and a week of activities. Wilma, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Wright, is a six-year 4-H member with nine projects this year and participation in a county fair dress revue and state fair activities.

Insect and pesticide guidance for sorghum and pasture crops

County extension notes address corn leaf aphid control on sorghum and related grasses, advise spraying at head formation with malathion, and warn about crickets damaging hay and pastures and safe pesticide rates. Guidance covers grazing and mowing timing, federal gas tax refund blanks, and upcoming soil test deadlines for fertilizer timing.

Wesley Chapel Installation of Officers and World Federation Program

The Wesley Chapel W 8 met July 17 at the church for installation of officers conducted by Mrs. Fred Martin. Mrs. Ben Wilson presented a program on World Federation of Methodist Women. Hostesses Alice Woodward and Lucile Weinberg assisted for Ethel Parker who was unable to attend. Aug 14 next regular meeting with a family picnic. Guests visited Washburn Cottage at Lake of the Ozarks, with Mrs. Henry Washburn and guests from Essex, including Ethel Parker, Mary Allery, and Mabel Kramer, touring area and cottages of Harvey Lisle and Roy Robbins families.

Fifteen 4-H girls to vie for top trip to state fair

Fifteen Mills County 4-H groups prepare for August 9 demonstrations with junior starts at 8 30 and seniors at 10 30 under judge Mrs Roscoe Jones of Atlantic. Exhibits judging begins August 9 at 1 pm by Mrs Jones and Mrs Horace Waltz of Red Oak. Entries include 361 food 97 canning 166 clothing 172 gardening 83 flowers 13 club table settings 29 centerpieces and 14 club booths. Dress revue involves thirty girls. Awards and trophies follow judging at the fashion style revue. A new home economics tent will showcase bulletin service and the federal survey with door prizes from county merchants. Ladien Day August 10 features cooking, Farm Chorus numbers, Lucky Circle 4-H furniture demonstrations, and electronic cookery with free samples and prizes for visitors.

Hamilton Family Reunites at Wesley Chapel

The Hamilton family held its annual reunion Sunday at Wesley Chapel church with 29 attendees. Rev. B. F. Hamilton officiated, Mark Alan Martin was baptized by his grandfather, and the Martins celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary.

New York and Indiana Guests Visit Fred Martin Home

Mrs Florence Cox of New York City and Chas Hamilton of Muncie Indiana visited from Thursday to Sunday at the home of their sister Neer Fred Martin. Mrs Cox spoke at Wesley Chapel and Henderson church services Sunday morning describing her role as Director of the Crusade Scholarship Fund for the Methodist church.

Tlumb Family Birthday Celebration Across Extended Family

Mark and Kirk Tlumb celebrated their third birthday Monday with grandparents Mrs. Ruby Plumb and H. Dye and the Plumb relatives. Jo Ann Parker and Danny Parker returned to Gettysburg South Carolina the week of July 26 after several weeks with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Clint Parker and uncle Don and family. The Lorance Lisle family left for Camdenton Missouri to vacation at the Lisle cottage. Keota neighbors Wayle Palmer Twila ani and Mrs. Walter Hower visited over the weekend with their daughter Mrs. Don Parker and family. Ryan Mumb and daughter Hetty and husband attended a Ban alay evening at Dr. John Kinesone in Malvern. Lynn Marker visited Darrell in Lincoln Saturday. The Joe Robinsons of Houston Texas came Sunday to spend two weeks with her parents.
