Mt Vernon social notes open season at April gathering

Mt Vernon correspondence covers a meeting of the Southwest Iowa Bankers Association in Tabor, birthday celebration in Emerson, family visits from Omaha to Glenwood and Red Oak, hospital updates, and a long hometown roundup. April weather, rain, and early garden activity noted.

Hillsdale and Nearby Hosts Weekending Visitors

Family Night at E Liberty May 2 1952 WSCS Meeting

A WSCS meeting in the church last Wednesday featured Mrs Emnett Stephens guiding a prayer lesson and songs. President Mrs Hugh Hayes led the business, bills approved, and one May meeting set for the 12th. Family night on May 2 with a pot luck supper at 6 40 invites all. Birthday cake fruit salad and kool-aid were served. honorees Mrs Lillian Sowers and Mrs W Stolls received cards and gifts.

Memorial services set for May in East Liberty

Memorial services this year will be observed on Sunday afternoon May 3. Further announcement to be made later. Mr and Mrs Walter Stille attended final rites for Mae Knight Haney at Grace Methodist Church. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Lanny Sellers visiting family in Griswold and Council Bluffs. Marilyn and Carolyn Tackett hosted a bridal shower for Harriett Mackey near Tabor. Dale McClure remains in critical condition in Mercy hospital after a visit with Arch Alexander and Charley Alexander in Council Bluffs.

Sunday Dinner Guests Across Several Families

Mr and Mrs Walter Stille hosted their son Bob and family north of Emerson with guests including the Richard Hendersons and J A Kline parents, Gerald Schroeders from Lincoln, Larry Blunt and Kevin from Malvern, and Rodger Ruimary. Beulah Wirth and Phoebe Goodell visited nearby families while a baby treated for pneumonia at Mercy hospital has since recovered. Kevin and Mary Ann Barnes of Manawa visited their father Vernol Barnes and grandparents. Other visitors included Ken ny McCain and son from Omaha and Art Coin family near Villisea with H H Ganley.
