Parish News From Malvern Area Struggles With Spring Events

Pleasant Bridge Dinner Parties Celebrate Birthdays

Entertained two evenings at the Anderson home southwest of town Inez Wednesday evening. Mr and Mrs A R Paullin and Mr and Mrs C L Kance hosted seven tables for a seven o'clock dinner and five hundred. Centerpieces of rosebuds and a spring color scheme set the theme. Harry Stone was surprised by four tables of bridge last Friday in honor of his birthday with refreshments served.

Mrs Knight Hosts Bridge Party For Sister

Mrs Knight entertained at a one o clock luncheon last Saturday honoring her sister Miss Marjorie Wightman of Chicago. Guests enjoyed a pleasant afternoon of bridge with Mrs Hartkus winning the high score prize.

Malvern Community Club Plans April 24 Meeting

Malvern Community club schedules its regular monthly meeting in the dining room of the Community building next Tuesday April 24 at 1 PM with a luncheon. Tickets should be secured early to plan meals. The tree committee also meets all day starting at Leader office 8 30 with transportation to the trees and back. Edw Woight president.

Simpson College Quartet Delights Malvern Audience

The Simpson College male quartet Danley McCammond Riley and Lindsey performed at the Community Building Tuesday evening under the Civic Improvement club. Despite a small crowd the quartet delivered a varied program with notable Hin e songs and a well balanced lineup praised by locals.

Young People Convent Delivers Fine Program Despite Weather

The Mille County Sunday School Association Young People's division held its county convention in Malvern last Saturday. Bad roads kept some away, but those who attended found the afternoon and evening sessions enthusiastic. Substitutes filled missing spots, the supper by Methodist ladies was good, and the toast, speech, music, and Dr White’s address drew praise. The county youth appeared well and promising, with organizers hopeful for future gatherings.

Grinnell Glee Club to feature Donald Laird in baritone

Grinnell College’s men’s glee club presents its annual home concert on April 20 with Donald Laird of Malye in the baritone section now in his fourth year. Laird also excels in track, winning the javelin event, while his major is chemistry and biology as he prepares for a future career.
