Millage Shook Nuptials at Grace Methodist Glenwood

Social happenings cover the March 29 marriage of Cheryl Louise Shook and Larry Millage at Grace Methodist Church in Glenwood. The ceremony featured a double ring rite, elegant floral decor, and a reception with family and friends. Mrs Robert Riggs to Address District Women WSCS

Ladies of the United Methodist church in the Council Bluffs district will meet in Atlantic on April 16 for the annual WSCS district meeting. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. with the theme Uniting Patterns. Guest speaker Mrs. Robert Riggs of Ames recently returned from Seoul Korea where she and her husband and four children have served as missionaries since 1956. Mrs. Robert Christensen of Strahan Methodist church serves as district vice president.

Skerritt Families Honored During Pennsylvania Visit

Mr and Mrs Gail Skerritt from Thompson Pa spent winter in Tucson Ariz and Albuquerque N M arriving Friday at Mary Skerritt home. Saturday they dined with Ward Hunts east of Silver City. A reunion followed Sunday with relatives from Red Oak Geneva Neb and Silver City. The group planned brief visits Monday en route home.

Box Elder Club Met With Mrs Bryant

Box Elder Woman's Club met April 3 with Mrs Bernard Bryant. Roll call had members share how they met their husbands. Birthday gifts went to Mrs George Hunt and Mrs William Kahl from secret pals. 50 played for prizes won by Mrs Mines, Earl Clark, Eldon Deuchler, and Gene Messenger. Tea table featured an Easter centerpiece with Mrs Gene Ricker at the punch bowl and Mrs William Kahl at the coffee service. Salad, crackers, nuts and mints were served. The May 7 meeting will be a plant exchange at the home of Mrs Floyd Yates.

More than 150 women attended the Mills County Extension Home Economics spring Jamboree in the Malvern Community Building Tuesday. Mrs Roy Donner of Malvern was named Homemaker of the Year in a ceremony led by Mrs Walter Klindt and others. Mrs Donner, active in 4 H and church work, received the honor as the main program featured Dellon Woolen Millis and a fashion talk and style show by Frances Davis.

Mrs Trively Hosts L T N Club April Meeting

April meeting of the L T N Club was held April 2 at Mrs Ray Trively’s home with twelve adults and three children present. Mrs Sam Taylor co hosted, roll call featured attire for the Malvern Centennial, Mrs Taylor shared early Helvera history, pencil games with Hower seeds prizes, and refreshments shared with a bonnet display. Baptist Kensington to meet Blanche Emanski on April 10 at 2 00 PM.

WSCS Reports On Church Work At Malvern Meeting

The WSCS of the United Methodist Church in Malvern met in Fellowship Hall on April 7 with 20 members present. Devotions were led by Mrs. W. C. Vanderpool and Kenneth Evans presented a program on church outreach, noting needs lie beyond church walls in places like resorts, airports, truck stops, or laundromats. Hostesses were Mrs. Tom Adkins and Mrs. Duane Hemyningsen, with refreshments served by Mrs. Grace Dofiner, who was named homemaker of the year.

Fined $30 for Lacking Iowa Hauling Authority

Leroy Spears of Farragut was fined 30 dollars and costs in Justice of Peace Virginia Hall's court for no Iowa authority to haul for hire. Vin cent McCann, Creston, Iowa commerce commission inspector, brought the charge. Charles King of Red Oak received 25 dollars and costs for failing to keep his car under control after an accident near Malvern. Ed Paulsen of Hastings was fined 10 dollars and costs for overload on registration.
