Mills Farmers divert nearly 48,000 acres from corn in 1966
Mills county farmers will divert at least 47,981 acres from corn under the 1966 federal feed grain program. The total is up from 1985 sign ups, though only 79 percent of eligible farmers signed this year. Extension to April 1 followed a higher 1966 soybean price support, potentially shifting plans toward soybeans amid stock and trade considerations. Millis county office staff doubt much growth from the extension.
