Attendance Declines Slightly in La Marque Schools
La Marque Public Schools report 97.27 attendance in the second six weeks, down from 97.78 in the first period. Tardies rose to 522, with secondary attendance at 97.01 and 2 948.38 members, elementary at 97.59 with 210 tardies, and special education at 94.08 with 11 tardies. Total district membership reached 6 206.87, up from 6 195.90.

Woman Fined 60 After Affray In Local Club
A La Marque woman, Ethel Rue, was fined 60 dollars total on three charges in City Corporation Court for drunk, affray, and disturbing the peace after a fight at Club El Morocco on Texas Ave. A complaint for simple assault against Lillian White was dismissed for lack of evidence. The case involved Elizabeth Thigpen and a man who had assaulted Thigpen. Rue testified about events at the tavern and restroom encounter.

Students To Begin Holidays Friday In La Marque Schools
Students in La Marque Public Schools start a two week holiday break after Friday afternoon classes on December 20. Classes resume Monday January 6. Christmas parties planned in all elementary schools Friday afternoon. Teachers plan to spend holidays in home towns while college students return home.
