Mainland District Scout banquet honors area volunteers
The Mainland District Recognition Banquet at the Kukral Center in Texas City celebrated Bay Area Council volunteers for den leaders, scoutmasters, and committee members. Felicitations included Den Leader of the Year Freda Sawyer, Cubmaster Bob Narvaez, Scoutmaster Bill Otte, Explorer Advisor Dr. John Scott, and Scouter of the Year Bob O'Brien, among others. Two Eagle Scouts, Gabriel Lopez Jr. and Daryl Lawrence, were named and Trey Otte earned the National Youth Leadership Award for 1986. Joe Yoke highlighted a strong membership rise and a district record fall roundup, with Bob De Lange serving as chairman.
