Mule Death Story Sets Snake Killer Mule Apart

Douglas Hood and O. Hedland return from Warm Springs with Indian pictures and a bold tale about a mule that killed a rattlesnake on the Mecca hill. The mule stood its ground as the snake rattled and died after the creature’s head was stepped on. Some quip that the mule could replace snake bite medicine on hunts, while others joke about facing death in the wild with only a mule for protection.

Foreclosure chase ends with suspect detained on train

Last week D W Barnett foreclosed a chattel favor from Frank Hipe of A C Sanford. Hipe failed to deliver all mortgaged property and fled by train northward. Sanford obtained a complaint before Judge Jackson. Ward sent deputies to intercept the train. Iman captured him. Barnett returned to the city with Hipe, who was arraigned, released on bond, and the case set for the twenty eighth after a business trip. Two men from Haycreek accompanied by sheep stock buyers joined the scene.

Lost Portland Boy Reunited Efforts By Patrolman Aid

Mrs. C G Hurt of Madras Oregon brought her 7 year old son to Portland to place him in a grammar school and forgot which school he attended. She sought help from Patrolman Crompton as the child wandered away after school hours. The boy wore a blue serge suit and gray cap, and his exact location was unknown at night.
