Madras Milling Co Reorganized as Madras Milling Co

The Matera Milling & Mercantile Company has reorganized and is now the Madras Milling Co with officers Max Pats president H F Dietzel secretary and director Max Patz Hl F Dietzel Howard W Turner. The firm reports high demand for Madras Flour and Madras Breakfast Food and aims to meet full capacity with the coming harvest despite grain supply strains. They have shipped loads to interior points and expect larger orders as crop prospects rise and grain prices shift.

Special School Meeting Votes on Higher Grades and Tax Levy

A special meeting was held on May 15 at district No. 2 for residents to vote on granting higher grades to the school and on levying a tax for school purposes. The district may decide whether to add a ninth grade this year. Last year no tax levy was approved.

Pioneer Telephone line to link ranchers in Opal Prairie

D Wood reports ranchers near Opal Prairie arranged a local party line with foreign connections to Wytside pointy. Central station will be Culver or Madras with long distance links. The system promises convenience and shorter distances despite recent heavy rain delaying some spottier work.

Daily Mail Service to Madras Increased to Seven Days a Week

Postmaster Davis reports a department notice that starting July 1 Madras will receive daily mail service with the same arrival and departure times as now. The improved schedule follows years of changes from roundabout routes via Grizzly and Shanike to current rail and stage connections, enhancing timely delivery forty miles from the railroad.

Examination for Forest Rangers at Prineville

An examination for forest ranger positions will be held in Prineville on July 23 and 24. Eligible applicants must be sound and able-bodied, endure hardships, and care for horses in remote areas. They should know logs surveying, estimating, scaling, and the livestock business, and be able to write reports or draw maps.
